History

Karwanchi`s History

Company Overview

Founded by Salih Karwanchi and followed by Abdulwahab Karwanchi, Karwanchi Group began its business journey in 1940 in Kirkuk city in the north of Iraq.

Karwanchi has traditionally focused on the food import and distributions, but invested to expand into the construction sector in the 1970 supplying cement that was required for the development of the infrastructure of the country at that period.

Alongside, the group continued to grow its focus on the food industry, launching ice cream and our plants in1982.

In 1999, Karwanchi launched soft drinks plants, re ecting the ambitions of the founding family to continue meeting the daily needs of the Iraqi families.

In 2007, Karwanchi business hit another milestone when it launched healthy water purifying and plants.

The group has grown from 250 employees to 2,500 employees -a ten-fold increase since it was founded.

Which goes hand-in-hand with the vigorous expansion of the product lines.

Founding and Early Years

The Karwanchi family entered the industry in 1999. They established the Ta’amin Company for soft drinks in Kirkuk.Initially, they had two glass production lines, a gas factory, and three PET lines. The company’s area was 11,500 square meters and had 160 employees.

Expansion

Mina Company for Healthy Water Ltd. was established. It had six production lines for plastic cups and three PET production lines. Focused on producing 18-liter water bottles. The facility covered 20,000 square meters and had 220 employees.

Further Growth

Karwanchi Company Ltd. expanded into soft drinks, juices, and dairy products.The facility covered 150,000 square meters.

Breakdown of space :

  • 60,000 sq. meters for production lines and warehouses.
  • 20,000 sq. meters for storage.
  • 20,000 sq. meters for gardens and green spaces.
  • 25,000 sq. meters for roads, corridors, and expansion.

Licenses and Certifications

Licensed by the Directorate General for Industrial Development of Iraq (License No. 81387). Holds health certificates and ISO certifications (ISO 9001:2008 & ISO 22000:2005). Certified for Halal compliance.
